Fashion Revolution Week (April 18-24)

This is a call for a fashion revolution to bring transparency forward in the clothing industry. It has been three years since the 1,133 people were killed in the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse but unfair and dangerous working conditions continue in the clothing business. Join the revolution and be a conscious consumer by asking brands #whomademyclothes. Send the message out through social media and get the conversation going.

Another hashtag you will see this week is #haulternative (alternative ways of embracing fashion). You can be haulternative by:
  • Loving what you already have
  • Buying secondhand
  • Renting clothing for special occasions (costumes, gowns)
  • Swapping clothing with a friend
  • Buying vintage
  • Sewing for yourself
  • Up-cycling older pieces

Buy less, choose well, make it last. -Vivienne Westwood

I was excited to learn about Fashion Revolution Week because it is a movement I try to stand behind all the time. Repurposing items, buying secondhand, and staying educated on how things are made. You can learn more at:
